Senior Kevin Sanchez from Vandegrift High School is the Leander ISD Student-Athlete of the Week.
Kevin is a member of the Viper cross country and track teams. He is a two time individual 6A Cross Country State Champion, and was named the 2022-2023 Texas Boys Cross Country Gatorade Player of the Year.
Head Cross Country Coach Colin Sully said that Kevin has become a Texas running legend.
“Kevin is an icon to young distance runners across the state of Texas but you would never know it just talking to him,” Sully said. “Kevin is about as humble and kind as an individual could get. He is extremely coachable and supportive of his teammates. He works very hard day in and day out and has provided an excellent example for our younger student athletes to follow.”
Kevin is a member of the Accelerator Entrepreneurship program, maintains a 4.63 GPA and has signed a National Letter of Intent to run on scholarship at the University of Notre Dame.
