Instructional Coach Kasey Bird at North Elementary School is the Leander ISD Staff Spotlight of the Week!
Each morning and afternoon on school days, Bird manages a crosswalk at a very busy intersection of the North neighborhood. In addition to keeping walkers and bikers safe, she helps to manage the variety of traffic problems that frequently arise around a new school.
According to North parent Laurel Thompson, Bird does all of this – in addition to her responsibilities as an Instructional Assistant – with grace and leadership in stressful situations.
“Most people don’t realize that Ms Bird is so much more than just our wonderful crossing guard. She brings lessons to the staff that help all of our children,” Thompson said. “She always has a smile on her face and works hard to support students, staff and the community.”
Bird often says, “The opportunities ahead are as vast as the universe and we get to navigate them together.”
