On March 3, 2021 the SAT will be given to Leander ISD 11th grade students during the school day. Due to the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, there are several changes to the in-school SAT School Day that affect the learning locations for grades 9, 10 and 12.

Grades 9 and 10

In order to accommodate 11th-grade students with a safe SAT testing environment, all students (virtual and in-person) in grades 9 and 10 will work asynchronously from home on March 3rd.

Grade 11

Leander ISD 11th-grade students (virtual and in-person) will have the opportunity to take the SAT exam on March 3rd at their home campuses. There will be no at-home SAT testing option as this is not allowed by the College Board.

Eleventh-grade students are strongly encouraged to take the SAT

Leander ISD is pleased to offer the SAT during the school day on March 3rd to expand access and opportunity, enhance college and career readiness and provide opportunities for students to meet TSI.

Texas law requires all entering students who wish to enroll in a Texas public higher education institution to meet college readiness standards in reading, writing, and math. Students who do not meet the Texas Success Initiative (TSI) standards upon graduation will be required to pass developmental courses at the college they are attending in order to start college-level coursework. Developmental courses are costly and do not count toward graduation. Students may meet TSI by earning a qualifying score on the SAT.

Grade 12

Twelfth-grade students who have met the Texas Success Initiative (TSI) will work asynchronously from home on March 3rd.

Students in grade 12 who have not met TSI will have the opportunity to take the TSI Assessment (TSI-A) on their home campuses on March 3rd. The TSI-A determines readiness for college-level coursework in the areas of English Language Arts, Reading, and Mathematics. This exam is a way to meet the TSI requirement for Texas Public Colleges and Universities.

Students who need to take the TSI-A will receive information from their campus College & Career Transition Coordinator.
