The Leander ISD School and Community Relations Department (SCR) earned four honors at the 2019 Texas School Public Relations Association (TSPRA) state conference.

In addition, Chief Communications Officer Corey Ryan took office within the statewide professional organization for school public relation professionals as the Central Vice President for TSPRA.

SCR staff were honored in four different categories:

  • Bi-Weekly E-Newsletter, Leander ISD Communications Team – Gold Star;
  • Website, Leander ISD Communications Team – Gold Star;
  • Video, 2017 State Marching Band Competition Daniel Cernero – Silver Star; and
  • Video, Q&A with the Superintendent (State of the District),  Daniel Cernero, Matt Mitchell & Kaitlin Paonessa – Bronze Star.

“I’m proud of the outstanding work SCR does every day to support our students, teachers and families,” Ryan said. “Their dedication to their craft is evidenced by these awards, but their impact goes far beyond a medal or certificate. It is a privilege working with such a talented group of people.”

TSPRA also selected the SCR team to present the district’s crisis communications plan as part of its training of communications professionals across the state.

Districts from across the state received TSPRA recognition for their outstanding work in education communications. There are 48 main categories covering various media such as newsletters, programs, posters, reports, writing, image/identity packages, photography, graphics, video, electronic presentations, mobile apps, campaigns, events and web sites. Entries are divided into three divisions based on the number of students the district, foundation or organizations serves.
