Leander ISD’s Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) students have had a successful competitive year, with high participation and multiple medals received at the district and state competition. Several LISD students will head to the national FCCLA competition in June.

At the State Competition, Vandegrift’s Madeline Hodges and Ally McDonal took home the 1st place award in the Focus on Children category, while Sydney Sims received 2nd place in Fashion Design Level 2, and Brook Boykin walked away with 3rd Place for Interior Design Level 3. Glenn High School’s Clea Colaco and Sophia Santos Soto received 2nd place in Nutrition and Wellness Level 2. Rouse High School’s Marley Harrison and Edith Murphy won 3rd place in the Chapter Service Project Portfolio Level 3 category, and Vista Ridge High School’s Aisha Khan and Isabella Leandro came in 1st for Interior Design Level 3.

According to their website, FCCLA is a national Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) for students in Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) education in public and private school through grade 12. FCCLA offers intra-curricular resources and opportunities for students to pursue careers that support families. Since 1945, FCCLA members have been making a difference in their families, careers, and communities by addressing important personal, work, and societal issues through Family and Consumer Sciences education. FCCLA is the only career and technical in-school student organization with the family as the central focus.
