Leander ISD high schools continued to set the bar high during marching band season with three Top 10 overall finishes — Vista Ridge High School, 4th; Leander High School, 6th; and Vandegrift High School, 7th — at the Bands of America Super Regional Championship Saturday, Nov. 3, in San Antonio.

In Class AAA, LHS took the top spot, followed by VRHS in second and Cedar Park High School in third. The Lions swept the Outstanding Music Performance, Outstanding Visual Performance and Outstanding General Effect awards.

Rouse High School finished as the Class AA champion, sweeping the Outstanding Music Performance, Outstanding Visual Performance and Outstanding General Effect awards.

For the district’s 6A high schools, the focus immediately shifts to the UIL State Marching Band Contest, which gets underway Monday, Nov. 5, at the Alamodome in San Antonio. Follow along to the 6A preliminary round on Leander ISD’s social feeds — Facebook and Twitter — as Leander HS takes the field at 1 p.m., followed by Vandegrift HS at 3 p.m. and Vista Ridge HS at 8:15 p.m.
