Leander ISD welcomed a seasoned Central Texas educational leader to the district after the Board of Trustees approved Amy Sharp, Ed.D., as the principal of River Place Elementary School at Thursday’s Board meeting.

“Dr. Sharp is a passionate instructional leader with a visionary mindset,” said Superintendent Bruce Gearing, Ed.D. “This, along with her ability to build relationships with the community and staff to build a common vision for the campus, makes Amy a great fit for River Place Elementary.”

Sharp currently serves as the assistant principal of Lakeway Elementary School in Lake Travis ISD. Before that, her career included stops as a teacher and writing coach at Ford Elementary School in Conroe ISD, a campus literacy coach and English Language Arts curriculum writer in Spring ISD, an instructional coach at Fulmore Middle School in Austin ISD, and an educational partner for middle schools in Eanes ISD.

“Becoming the principal of River Place Elementary School is an extreme honor, and I am grateful for the opportunity to serve in Leander ISD,” Sharp said. “My entire career in education has been motivated by the goal of supporting and empowering others to be impactful in education, and I am excited to build relationships alongside the Titan Community.

“I look forward to partnering with Titan families, students, and community members,” she added, “in providing a safe and joyful learning environment where all can bravely strive and thrive with positivity, respect, integrity, determination and excellence!”

Sharp received a bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, with a focus on Early Childhood and Elementary Education, from Baylor University. She later earned a master’s of education in curriculum and instruction from the University of Maryland and her doctorate in Educational Leadership from Baylor.
