Opened in the fall of 2001, Leander ISD’s 10th elementary school — Charlotte Cox Elementary School — is named after Charlotte Ann Cox, who taught for more than 24 years in LISD, mostly in the fifth and sixth grades. She taught at Faubion Elementary, the Giddens Sixth Grade Center, and at both Leander and Cedar Park middle schools.

Cox lost her battle with cancer in 1999. She is remembered by her students and colleagues as “the consummate teacher,” someone who cared deeply for a generation of students, and a teacher who constantly went “above and beyond” to help other teachers become better educators.
