Leander ISD is thrilled to announce Tim Cornett as the next principal of Stiles Middle School. During Thursday night’s meeting, the Board of Trustees approved the recommendation.

“Tim is a dedicated instructional leader known for fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment through collaboration with staff, students and families,” Superintendent Bruce Gearing, Ed.D., said. “His leadership style emphasizes shared input and continuous improvement, and I am confident that under Tim’s leadership, Stiles Middle School will continue its tradition of excellence.”

Cornett moves into the Stiles MS principal position from Rouse HS, where he has served as dean of instruction since 2020. In this role, Cornett promoted and supported the Rouse instructional vision, supported the Advanced Placement (AP) program, and nurtured the AVID program from an elective to a school-wide implementation.

While at Rouse HS, Cornett also served as an assistant principal, where he gained operational experience related to various aspects of school leadership.

“I am excited and honored to join the Stiles family,” Cornett said. “I am eager to continue the standard of excellence demonstrated by students, staff, and parents by supporting each and every student to meet their individual potential. I am humbled by this opportunity and look forward to working together. Go Spartans!”

Prior to serving at Rouse HS, Cornett served as a teacher and instructional coach at Canyon Ridge Middle School. He began his career in education in Georgia, teaching at a middle school in the Madison County School District.

Cornett attended the University of Georgia, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in social studies education. He went on to earn a Master of Education in learning technologies from the University of Texas at Austin. Cornett also completed the Principal Preparation Program at Lamar University.
