Leander ISD has been recognized by Central Texas Clean Cities for the second year in a row for the districtโ€™s use of alternative fuels, advanced vehicle technologies, and fuel-saving strategies. 

The recognition for the year 2023 highlights the districtโ€™s efforts to help contribute to cleaner air quality and transportation innovation in the Central Texas region by reducing:

  • 17,328 Tons of Greenhouse Gas Emissions
  • 4.407 lbs of NOx
  • 258 lbs PM 2.5

LISD earned the alternative fuels award badge for its use of vehicles that operate on B20, electricity, E85, hydrogen, propane, natural gas, and/or have a hybrid drive train. In addition, Leander ISD was honored with the idle reduction award badge for 2023, which recognizes the districtโ€™s technologies, training, and policies that reduce idling.ย 

The districtโ€™s efforts to be fuel-efficient contribute to advancing clean and efficient transportation in our region.ย
