Eighth grader Alessa Kimball at Danielson Middle School is the Leander ISD Fine Arts Student of the Week.

According to her teachers, Alessa strives for excellence and has a drive to rise to her highest potential in the Danielson band. She is fearless in her performances and has a genuine curiosity about her instrument. She looks for opportunities to grow as a bassoonist in the band setting and individually.

This school year, Alessa was a member of the Region Band and a main soloist for the UIL program, and she applied for the Bocal Majority Double Reed Solo Contest out of Dallas. She traveled to Dallas to perform her solo with an accompanist and advanced to the semifinals round.

“Alessa is an extraordinary musician with a great work ethic. She challenges herself to rise to her highest musical potential while creating an atmosphere of excellence that the students around her are enveloped in,” Band Director Andrea Gonzalez said.

In addition to Alessa’s involvement in the band, she studies Japanese and works a job on the weekends.
