March 11, 2021: After a year of unprecedented challenges, Leander ISD is being honored by the Cedar Park Chamber of Commerce with its “Large Business of the Year” award.
District staff accepted the honor March 10 at the 48th Annual Cedar Park Chamber of Commerce Award Luncheon.
“Little did we know that one year ago today we would begin our journey through this pandemic, making one hard decision after another,” said Leander ISD Superintendent Bruce Gearing, Ed.D. “We have a tremendous responsibility in considering the health and safety of our more than 40,000 students, their families and our 5,500 staff members. I can’t say enough about how our valiant teachers redesigned learning by creating new and engaging ways to keep our children educationally engaged during these uncertain times. We were able to make this year a success because of the determination of our teachers, our parents, and our community, working together to make sure that learning, whether virtual or in-person, was everything it could be for our students. Thank you to the Cedar Park Chamber, the Chamber Board and all of you who recognize the hard work of our teachers and staff.”
Nominations were submitted by Cedar Park Chamber Members and the general public. Finalists and winners were selected by an anonymous committee. Winners are usually announced at the annual gala, which was changed to a luncheon format due to COVID-19 restrictions. All winners will also be celebrated at the 2022 Gala.
