Reed Elementary fifth grader Matias Salcedo is the Leander ISD Super Kid of the Week.

Originally from Venezuela, Matias has attended Reed Elementary since first grade. As a fifth grader, Matias consistently demonstrates strong values and high standards.

Fifth grade dual language teacher Janette Cortes-DeJesus said that Matias is a great example of determination and the pursuit of excellence.

“Matias always strives to do his best, has great disposition, is very humble, and is always there to help others,” Cortes-DeJesus said. “He is a true leader at our school and we don’t doubt that he is also a great leader at home. He is a great example of determination and pursuit of excellence.”

Matias is part of the Student Lighthouse Committee, Lego Club and Safety Patrol. He likes the Harry Potter and Doctor Strange movies, and enjoys investigating and creating things. One of the things he wants to do when he grows up is invent a car that turns gas into oxygen.
