For the second year in a row, Leander ISD robotics teams dominated the state UIL robotics competitions. In the 5A/6A FTC category, Vista Ridge High School’s 7797 Victorian Voltage won first place, and Vandegrift High School’s 7161 ViperBots Hydra won second place. Vandegrift also placed third in the FRC category.

In order to compete in the state UIL competition, teams had to qualify for the FIRST Super Regionals tournament. Vandegrift took four FTC teams to super regionals, where the teams won as an alliance under 7161 ViperBots Hydra, and three qualified for the World tournament. 7161 Hydra and 11503 HyperFang placed second and fifth, respectively. 6800 Valor qualified for worlds for the first time, where the team placed fifth.

Congratulations to all of these stand-out students on a successful year!
