Leander ISD proudly recognizes our counseling services team during National School Counseling Week from Feb. 2-6 and celebrates the vital role they play in supporting students all across the district.

The primary role of our school counselors is to provide mental and emotional support for every student in Leander ISD while helping them build essential social and interpersonal skills from elementary through high school. At the secondary level, counselors serve as trusted partners for students and families as they navigate their present and future plans, providing academic guidance and career advice.

This school year has required counselors to adapt to new legislative changes and evolving processes, which they’ve met with flexibility and care. Through it all, they continue to show up for students with professionalism and compassion. Their impact reaches far beyond schedules and graduation plans. School counselors make a meaningful difference in the lives of the students they serve.

“Our counseling team is the heart of our schools, listening, guiding, advocating and showing up every day for students, families and staff,” said Shayla Pratt, Leander ISD director of counseling services. “Your compassion, professionalism, and dedication make a lasting difference. We are better because of you.”

This National School Counseling Week — and every day — we thank our counselors for their unwavering support, thoughtful guidance and deep commitment to student success and well-being.
