Leander ISD Student-Athlete of the Week Maddie George isn’t reaching for records. She’s breaking them.
As a Wiley Middle School eighth-grader, Maddie plays Coyote volleyball, basketball and soccer. In addition, she throws shot put and discus in track & field. As a matter of fact, Maddie won both the shot put and discus events at the district track and field meet. She even set a school record in discus. What a tremendous accomplishment!
“Maddie is always in the right place at the right time,” Wiley MS girls athletic coordinator Keith Henry said. “She is an incredible competitor, participating in almost everything the school has to offer. Plus, she plays softball outside of school. You are successful in athletics when you have someone like Maddie playing for you.”
Maddie plays four out of six sports offered in middle school. While athletics keep her busy, she manages to stay on top of her studies. Proven through her membership to National Junior Honor Society.
