LISD students from Cedar Park, Glenn, Leander and Vista Ridge high schools joined hundreds of peers from across the state at the YMCA Texas Youth and Government Contest in late January.

Junior legislators from throughout Texas convened at the State Capitol to discuss legislation, present policy ideas and debate the merits of various “laws”.

Of the eight bills that ultimately passed during the session, a pair were submitted by LISD students. Cedar Park’s Kate Schulle and Leander’s Jesse Williams each proposed winning legislation, with Schulle being recognized as a Distinguished Delegate by her peers.
