Leander ISD is thrilled to announce the hiring of Alicia Harris for the role of Knowles Elementary School Principal, after the Board approved the hiring at Thursday’s meeting.
“Alicia is a dynamic leader who values and understands that personal relationships, coupled with high expectations in supporting student achievement, drive a positive school culture,” Superintendent Bruce Gearing, Ed.D., said. “I’m thrilled to have her returning to Leander ISD.”
Harris returns to Leander ISD after serving as principal of Bertram Elementary School in Burnet CISD for the past four years. Harris previously served in Leander ISD between 2006–2019, most recently as an assistant principal at Whitestone Elementary School and Camacho Elementary School. She also worked as an instructional coach at River Ridge Elementary, a kindergarten teacher and Structured Learning Environment teacher at Pleasant Hill Elementary, an Early Learning Environment teacher at Winkley Elementary School and in numerous other roles across the district.
“I am absolutely thrilled and deeply grateful to be named principal of Patricia Knowles Elementary in Leander ISD,” Harris said. “I am excited to lead such an incredible community of students, educators, and families, and to work together to create an environment where each and every student can thrive. I can’t wait to get started on our work together to achieve our shared goals for our students. Go, Wranglers!”
Harris received a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing from St. Edward’s University, and she then went on to complete a Master of Education in Teacher Leadership from Lamar University. Additionally, she has completed a teaching certificate with endorsements in special education and ESL, as well as a principal certificate.

Harris regresa a Leander ISD después de servir como directora de la Escuela Primaria Burnet CISD durante los últimos cuatro años. Harris sirvió anteriormente en Leander ISD entre 2006 y 2019, más recientemente como subdirectora en la Escuela Primaria Whitestone y la Escuela Primaria Camacho. También trabajó como entrenadora de instrucción en la escuela River Ridge, maestra de ambiente de aprendizaje estructurado en la escuela Pleasant Hill, maestra de ambiente de aprendizaje temprano en la escuela Winkley y en muchas otras posiciones en todo el distrito.

Harris recibió una Licenciatura en Administración de Empresas en Marketing de la Universidad de St. Edward, y luego completó una Maestría en Educación de Liderazgo Docente de la Universidad de Lamar. Además, ha completado un certificado de enseñanza con respaldo en educación especial e Inglés como Segundo Idioma, así como un certificado de directora.
