Leander ISD has partnered with Pocketalk to implement a new multilingual translation device in every school’s main office with the goal of breaking down language barriers between LISD staff, students and families.
The Pocketalk device provides quick, two-way voice translation to help ensure that every student, parent and community member that visits our schools feels heard and understood. Pocketalk is equipped to support up to 92 languages and dialects.
All district receptionists and the Leander ISD Police Department have been trained to use the device to easily and efficiently communicate with students and families that require additional language support.
The LISD Global Languages and Cultures team wants to ensure our community is aware of this resource and encourages anyone who may need this support to reach out to a staff member for assistance.
