Following a lengthy public comment window and the consideration of nearly 500 naming submissions, the Board of Trustees officially named the district’s 27th elementary school and ninth middle school. Larkspur Elementary will be located in the Larkspur subdivision.
Middle School 9 will be named for former Cedar Park High School dance teacher Stacy Danielson. It will open in 2020 across from Glenn High School, also in the northern part of the district.
“This is a really important step forward in the identity of Leander ISD’s newest schools,” said Dan Troxell, Ph.D. “These are going to be amazing places of learning and growth for our young people. I am very excited to see the campuses, staff and traditions start to take shape.”
For more information about the approved scenario and transfer recommendations, please visit the Elementary 27 Attendance Zoning webpage. The Board will begin reviewing possible zoning scenarios for Danielson Middle School in the next three to six months.
“We appreciate our community’s involvement in the school naming process,” Trustee Elexis Grimes said. “As a fast-growth district slated to open five new schools in the next five years, the board is fortunate to have an engaged community from which to draw suggestions.”
