Leander ISD is excited to welcome Upenda Sibley to #1LISD as the district’s new Child Nutrition Services (CNS) director.

Sibley joins LISD with 25 years of experience in foodservice and logistics operations. For the last five years, she’s held various leadership positions with Southwest Foodservice Excellence (SFE), the district’s foodservice management company. In years prior, Sibley served in operational management leadership with the U.S. military. Throughout her military career, she led and developed teams to set up and run roughly 1,500 dining operations in South Korea and Iraq, managing up to 220 employees and feeding military bases of up to 25,000 people.

“I am incredibly excited to join Leander ISD’s child nutrition team,” Sibley said. “I am confident that this opportunity will allow me to continue to do what I love, which is providing healthy, fresh, from-scratch meals to children. My family and I look forward to becoming part of the Leander ISD and the greater community, with our kids attending schools in the district. We are extremely thankful for the opportunity and look forward to serving Leander ISD.”

LISD worked closely with SFE to find a strong leader to become the district’s new CNS director. Sibley brings strong interpersonal skills as a natural team trainer and problem solver. She replaces Steve Smith, who left the district to become Child Nutrition Services director in Killeen ISD.
