During the month of January, #1LISD extends an extra special thank you to our Board of Trustees for their continued dedication to our students and staff.
School board members are volunteers who serve our community as elected officers, tasked with the responsibility of overseeing the operation of public schools and ensuring that students receive a high-quality education. This month is a special opportunity to show Leander ISD Trustees how much we appreciate their work, leadership, and commitment to students and staff.
“Board members in #1LISD are the epitome of servant leadership,” said Leander ISD Superintendent Bruce Gearing, Ed.D. “They selflessly dedicate countless hours and wrangle multiple challenging decisions each month. They do this with grace and poise while always putting students at the center of every decision they make. It is my honor and privilege to work closely with them to accomplish the goals of our strategic plan.”
The 2025 theme for School Board Recognition Month is “Leadership for Tomorrow’s Texas,” which emphasizes the critical role school board members play in shaping the future of our state.
“Our Board of Trustees know that the future of our great State is sitting in our public schools, and they exemplify what it means to live out the theme ‘Leadership for Tomorrow’s Texas,’ Gearing said. “A heartfelt ‘thank you’ to the LISD Board!”
The Leander ISD Board of Trustees has proven to be an important part of the district’s Force of the Future by advocating for each and every member of the #1LISD family, keeping student centered learning as the focus of every decision, and exemplifying management oversight of strong systems to guarantee success.
The Board of Trustees creates the vision and goals for the district and selects the Superintendent, who serves as the district’s Chief Executive Officer. Together, the Board of Trustees and Superintendent form Leander ISD’s “Governance Team.”
