From crime scenes to pandemics, Leander ISD Career and Technical Education (CTE) Student of the Week Avery Habermacher can host a clinic in dedication!

Nominated by one of her teachers, Avery had the privilege to attend Congress of Future Medical Leaders. Discussions on topics like artificial heart transplants, epidemiology and gene targeting abound. Through this unique opportunity, Avery heard from the world’s top medical school professors. Notable colleges represented include Johns Hopkins, Georgetown, Duke, and Harvard, to name a few.

“Avery is my top biomed student this year. Her contributions to our class have been outstanding,” Jesse Leake, Vista Ridge High School Principles of Biomedical Sciences teacher said.

The sophomore contributed to developing a new club at Vista Ridge HS, Students in Medicine. Members discuss opportunities and research in the biomedical field.

“She is going to do big things in biomedical sciences in the future!”

Outside of her passion for health & well-being, Avery plays mellophone or french horn in the Vista Ridge HS Band

Congratulations Avery Habermacher, LISD CTE Student of the Week!
