All four Leander ISD 5A Bands participated in the UIL Area H Marching Contest this past Saturday at Gupton Stadium. The contest started with a preliminary round consisting of 24 bands, with 10 bands advancing to the evening Finals competition.
At the end of the finals competition, the Leander ISD 5A bands took the top four places, earning all four schools a trip to the UIL State Marching Band Contest. Cedar Park HS earned 1st place, Rouse HS took 2nd place, Leander HS came in 3rd place, and Glenn HS earned 4th place — marking the first time since 2019 that the Glenn band will head to the state contest.
“Hard work by hundreds of LISD students, teachers, and parents was on display at Gupton Stadium this past weekend,” said Mike Howard, LISD director of fine arts. “We are all so proud of students and directors for being State Bound!”
Congratulations to all four bands on this accomplishment! All of #1LISD wishes them a safe trip to the Alamodome in San Antonio on Monday, Nov. 4 for the UIL State Marching Band Contest. The top 14 bands from prelims will perform in the State Finals on Tuesday, Nov. 5.
