Leander ISD has named experienced campus leader Sally Sosa, Ph.D., as the next principal of Giddens Elementary School.

“We are pleased to announce Dr. Sally Sosa as the new principal of Giddens Elementary School,” said Acting Superintendent Chris Clark, Ed.D. “Dr. Sosa is a proven administrator within Leander ISD known for her heart to serve and her dedication to fostering strong community partnerships. We are confident her expertise will further Giddens’ mission to provide a positive, challenging and inclusive learning environment.”

Sosa currently serves as the principal of River Ridge Elementary, where she has designed and implemented systems that promote equity, access and opportunity for all learners. Sosa placed high importance on analyzing student performance and supporting every learner through professional learning communities while also strengthening multi-tiered layers of support by aligning intervention, special education and general education teams.

“I am truly grateful for the opportunity to serve as the next principal of Giddens Elementary, where students feel valued, supported and inspired,” Sosa said. “Giddens Elementary’s vision of fostering greatness, cultivating leaders and empowering each and every heart is one I truly believe in. I can’t wait to get to know our students, families and staff and to proudly continue the legacy of the Jaguars.”

Prior to serving the River Ridge Elementary learning community, Sosa served as the assistant principal at Block House Creek Elementary. Before her time in Leander ISD, she worked for Concordia University as an adjunct professor and university supervisor. She also has leadership experience from her time as the early childhood director at Hill Country Christian School. Sosa has eight years of classroom experience, teaching 3rd grade and preschool in schools in Houston and Austin.

Sosa received a bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies from Texas Tech University. She holds two master’s degrees: one in Curriculum and Instruction from Concordia University and one in Educational Leadership from Stephen F. Austin University. In 2023, Sosa received her doctorate in School Improvement from Texas State University.
