Senior Michael Lopez from Leander High School is the Leander ISD Student-Athlete of the Week.
Michael is a member of the Lion cross country, soccer and track teams. He is a two-time state cross country qualifier and track regional qualifier and was named to the CCCAT’s 2023 All State Cross Country Team.
Head Cross Country Coach Aubrey Lindber said that Michael is one of the most competitive athletes she has had the honor to coach at LHS.
“Michael is the epitome of all gas and no breaks when it comes to racing style. He races fearlessly, and has the most incredible ability to chase athletes down and make incredible come-from-behind victories, changing the finish of the race in its final seconds,” Lindber said. “He is also a great leader and mentor to his younger teammates, giving positive pep talks and making sure everyone makes it off the finish line.”
Michael is also a member of the National Honor Society and HOSA.
