The Leander ISD Board of Trustees held a special meeting to accept the resignation of Trustee Jim MacKay and discuss options for filling the Board vacancy. The Trustees took no action at the meeting but will pick up the discussion at the next Board meeting on Sept. 30.
The Board has two options:
- Appoint a Trustee to serve until the next election.
- Hold a special election in 2021.
Because the deadline to include it on the November 2021 ballot was Aug. 30, the district would pay more to hold a special election without Williamson and Travis counties subsidizing the cost.
The Board must fill the vacancy in the next 180 days. The next scheduled election for the Leander ISD Board of Trustees is November 2022 for places 1, 2, 6 and 7.
