Vista Ridge High School senior Jamil Pittman has been named the Leander ISD Student-Athlete of the Week. Jamil is a four-year letterman for the Vista Ridge Ranger football program and 4-year track participant.

On the field in the recent game against Westwood, Jamil had 13 carries for 140 yards, two touchdowns, and three catches for another 80 yards in Vista Ridge’s 56-49 victory. In 2014 and 2015, Jamil received the Ranger Wide Receiver Award. In 2016, he was named Ranger Offensive MVP and led the team in rushing and receiving.

Not only is Jamil a leader on the field, but also among his peers. He is a two-time team captain and two-time member of the distinguished Leadership Council.

“Jamil is an outstanding football player,” Head Football Coach Rodney Vincent said. “He has worked hard for our football program ever since his ninth-grade year. He is not only a great example on the field, but has worked really hard at bringing the Rangers together off the field.”

Jamil exhibits all the qualities and attributes of an exceptional student-athlete. LISD is proud to name him the Student-Athlete of the Week.
