Right after Leander ISD welcomed back teachers and staff in a virtual Convocation ceremony, Superintendent Bruce Gearing, Ed.D. offered a special message to families.

In a short video, Dr. Gearing offered an authentic and transparent look at how we will start school on Thursday, August 13. He offered three main key points:

  1. We will start school on Aug. 13 in a 100% virtual environment. Responding to feedback from parents, Leander ISD plans to deliver more synchronous learning and more connection with teachers.
  2. Our plan is to welcome back students to an in-person learning environment as early as Sept. 8., reliant upon the numbers and guidance from local health agencies. For those students, they will not all return at the same time. We will start small and phase in more students.
  3. Leander ISD is working to respond quickly and provide great customer service. However, a tremendous amount of grey area can leave with just as many questions as parents and students have. We remain  where we cannot communicate because we don’t know. 

Dr. Gearing ended, reinforcing our commitment to giving students the best possible learning experience. While challenges abound, we will work together because we are stronger together. We are #1LISD.
