During the month of March, #1LISD is celebrating National Athletic Training Month. In an effort to recognize the essential role athletic trainers provide, we are highlighting the excellence of one student-athletic trainer from each high school.
Vista Ridge High School
Pointing with amazement, we’re watching a shooting star–Leander ISD Student-Athletic Trainer of the Week Jordyn May!
The Vista Ridge High School sophomore has learned so much in such a short time. Jordyn supported the Vista Ridge Sports Medicine program for the last year. For her hard work and passion, she has received the Vista Ridge Sports Medicine Ranger Heart Award, the Vista Ridge Ranger Star Award. Signing in her studies, Jordyn has earned recognition as a Vista Ridge Scholar on the A honor roll.
“Jordyn May is an exceptional human being and has displayed immense growth as a first-year in our program,” Vista Ridge High School Athletic Trainer Sophia Munoz said. “A resource to her fellow student trainers, she goes into action with steadfast resolve. Her efforts consume the classroom and the field alike. With agility, she has made her mark on our program with both her leadership skills and desire to learn. For that, we are lucky to have her and very excited to see what her future holds.”
Leander High School
Taking her role to the next level, Leander ISD Student-Athletic Trainer of the Week Mia Montoya demonstrates intuition and skill–all with a smile on her face!
At Leander High School, Mia has embraced the work she does in athletics. The sophomore supported the football and wrestling teams for the past 2 years.
“Mia is a leader on the squad and always willing to help with any task,” Leander High School Athletic Trainer Jorge Martinez said. “She leads by example and cares for all our LHS student-athletes. Mia has been a solid, dependable student in our program that we can count on to go above and beyond.”
Congratulations to Jordyn May and Mia Montoya for contributing to the high standard of excellence in our Sport Medicine programs!
