Leander ISD Student-Athlete of the Week Isabella “Izzy” Hunstock is killin’ it!

Izzy, Glenn High School senior, has made a name for herself on the varsity volleyball team. During her high school career, she has acquired over 354 kills! That makes the third-most in program history!  Izzy also holds the record for most kills in a game at 15 and most kills in a single season with 319. Among other noted achievements, her teammates nominated Izzy for Co-Offensive Player of the Year. She is the lone winner of the team MVP player award and was named to District 25-5A’s All-District first team.

Not only a star in the athletic world, but she also chooses to lead in the academic world as well. Her memberships include PALS (Peer Assistance and Leadership Skills), National Honor Society and FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes). Moreover, Izza qualified for both TGCA (Texas Girls Coaches Association) Academic All-State and District 25-5A Academic All-District teams.

“Izzy has developed into an amazing 6-rotation outside hitter this season,” Glenn High School head volleyball coach Melissa Rich said. “Her work ethic, competitiveness and love for the game is the true representation of what we expect for Grizzlies in our program. She always goes above and beyond! Izzy is phenomenal in the classroom and with her teammates. We are so lucky to have her leading our team this year!”
