Despite an outpouring of concern for our LISD Super Kid Rishi Koyyalamudi, he has the power to show a deep concern for others!

Rishi goes to Akin Elementary. The fifth-grader helped organize a canned food drive through the student organization C-Squared. In addition, Rishi got other students involved in the fifth-grade lunch bunch, a chance to meet up and chat with the school counselor. Before the holidays, he showed his appreciation by giving popcorn to some of the staff members at Akin.

“Rishi goes above and beyond the average fifth-grader and deserves to be recognized for his efforts in helping others,” Akin Elementary fifth-grade teacher Shelly Rehbein said.

By and large, Richi has put forth extraordinary effort this year after facing many challenges during the previous year. His father explained Rishi had two brain surgeries last year to get rid of a tumor.

“That hit like an unexpected storm to a healthy nine year old,” Satish Koyyalamudi said. “He is a fighter and faced all his challenges with a smile on his face.”

A smile that lights up when Rishi reads the Harry Potter series! He even dressed up as the boy wizard for our book character dress-up day. Among his dreams, Richi hopes to become a professional soccer player one day, hopelessly devoted to the game.

We’re rooting for you, Richi Koyyalamudi-#1LISD Super Kid!
