The big brass band is buzzing for Leander ISD Fine Arts Student of the Week Kirsten Tjelmeland!
A standout tuba player at Four Points Middle School, Kirsten excels as section leader and has made All-Region Band the last two years. Her commitment to excellence means more than just achieving personal success; it highlights her willingness to help others.
“Kirsten voluntarily uses her lunch hour to come and play alongside the sixth-grade tuba class, offering inspiration for younger students to continue making music for years to come,” said FPMS band director Jessica Gonzales. “She is a leader in the band by her actions, by her perseverance and by her example.”
When she’s not playing the tuba, Kirsten excels in basketball and track for FPMS.
For her leadership and dedication to helping sustain musical excellence at her school, a resounding “Oompah!” for LISD Fine Arts Student of the Week Kirsten Tjelmeland!
