Leander ISD released a new elementary school attendance zoning scenario (ES28B and ES28B) as plans are being made for the opening of Tarvin Elementary School in August 2021 and the potential opening of ES 29 in August 2022.
The new scenario keeps Cold Springs and Hazlewood neighborhoods at Akin after community members expressed concerns over being rezoned three times in five years. Scenario 28B calls for Akin to receive enrollment relief as early as 2023 with the opening of ES 30, planned for a site near the Ranch at Brushy Creek in Cedar Park. Tarvin ES, located near the Leander neighborhood of Palmera Ridge, will open with students from Parkside and Pleasant Hill. Scenario ES 29B sets up the district’s elementary school near the Bryson neighborhood in Leander to relieve Larkspur and Plain elementary schools.
Before discussing the final plans with the Board of Trustees, who could adopt a new boundary plan as early as Feb. 25, the District is hosting two virtual town hall meetings on Feb. 2 and Feb. 4. Please register via the following links.
- Feb. 2 Elementary Zoning Town Hall 6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
