Earlier this month, Ashley Bonneville became the first female to start in a varsity baseball game for Glenn High School. Playing baseball as a little kid, America’s favorite pastime filled a sense of competition and athleticism. That fueled Ashley’s success in other sports. Full throttle, the graduating senior also played varsity volleyball and basketball. If you’ve seen her play, you know she made a name for herself in those respective sports as well.
March celebrates Women’s History Month. A professional in every sense, baseball became a foundation for Ashley’s growth in character and perseverance. Glenn HS’ baseball program didn’t lower a standard of excellence. In many ways, she outperforms simply by never taking a day off and with a mindset of consistently earning the respect of her teammates and coaches.
Among other celebrated accomplishments during the March 13 Glenn HS game against the Austin Texans baseball team, Ashley became the first Glenn HS female student-athlete to:
- ⚾ Record an out playing third base
- ⚾ Strikeout competitors
- ⚾ Record a hit
- ⚾ Score a run
#1LISD is honored Ashley represents with determination and leadership.
