A changing of the guard is at hand at Cedar Park and Vista Ridge high schools, as head football coaches Carl Abseck and Rodney Vincent are leaving Leander ISD for other coaching opportunities.
Abseck, who led the Cedar Park football team to the 5A State Finals last season, helped lead the Timberwolves to numerous district championships in his 16 seasons as an assistant coach and head coach, forging State Champions in 2012 and 2015.
Vista Ridge’s Vincent led the Rangers for 12 seasons, claiming multiple playoff wins and was named Dave Campbell’s Texas High School 5A Coach of the Year in 2015.
“We thank these outstanding leaders and their families for their commitment to our student-athletes and our communities,” LISD Athletics Director Jonathan Lamb said. “The bar is set extremely high at Cedar Park and Vista Ridge, and I’m confident that their successors will continue the standard of excellence they have established.”
