New mLISD Devices to be Phased In; Security Deposit Amounts Reduced for 2023–24

During the 2023-2024 school year, Leander ISD will be making some exciting changes to the mLISD program. Some of these changes will be immediate, and some will be phased in over a period of 3-4 years.

After careful consideration, Leander ISD has chosen the Lenovo 13w Yoga Windows Laptop as the new standard device for High School Students, starting with the 2023-2024 9th graders. LISD has also chosen the Lenovo 500e Convertible Chromebook for Middle School Students, starting with the 2023-2024 6th graders. These new devices will be phased into other grade levels over the next three years. Secondary students not in the sixth or ninth grades will continue to use the Lenovo 11e during the 2023-2024 school year. Please see the chart below for the new device deployment schedule.

These new devices, chosen based on feedback from students, teachers, and district staff, are higher performing than the previous standard models and meet the instructional needs of the students. LISD is excited to provide these new devices to our students.

Security Deposit Amounts Reduced for 2023–24

To make it easier for our families, Leander ISD has decided to reduce the amount of the non-refundable security deposit for those who choose to participate. LISD will also be waiving the security deposit for families who qualify for free and reduced meals. These changes will go into effect April 1, 2023, for the 2023-2024 school year.

Non-refundable security deposit amounts for the 2023-2024 school year:

• High School Students: $60.00 per year
• Middle School Students: $40.00 per year
• Students who receive free & reduced meals: $0.00

Actualización del Programa de mLISD 2023-2024 y Cambios en el Depósito de Garantía

Durante el año escolar 2023-2024, Leander ISD hará algunos cambios emocionantes al programa de mLISD. Algunos de estos cambios serán inmediatos, y algunos serán graduales en un período de 3 a 4 años.

Después de una cuidadosa consideración, Leander ISD ha elegido el Lenovo 13w Yoga Windows Laptop como el nuevo dispositivo estándar para los estudiantes de preparatoria, a partir del 2023-2024, 9 º grado. Para facilitarles las cosas a nuestras familias, Leander ISD ha decidido reducir la cantidad del depósito de garantía no reembolsable para aquellos que decidan participar. LISD también eximirá del depósito de garantía a las familias que califiquen para comidas gratuitas y a precio rebajado. Estos cambios entrarán en vigor el 1 de abril de 2023, para el año escolar 2023-2024.
